THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE ABSENT EMPLOYEE OFTEN DIFFERS FROM THAT OF THE EMPLOYER
Employees can have life issues that pose a challenge to coming to work and while most employers offer some support, often referred to as employee assistance programs (EAP) These programs are often designed to help with an identifiable short term problem. EAP can be less effective for handling complex absence issues that involve habitual absences for different or recurring issues. In these case the employee may lack the tools, knowledge or competence to handle these issues without some help.
ABSENTEEISM IS A FLAG. THE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON YOUR COMPANY IS THE OUTCOME.
THE PROBLEM IS AN EMPLOYEE WHO LACKS TOOLS AND COPING SKILLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
A healthy productive employee will have an occasional absence but habitual absences should be a flag that the employee needs proactive help.
We each have our personal definition of success. Sometimes we can get bogged down with fear, anxiety or the demands of others. At this time we need change. Those changes often need to be behavioural with a focus on social emotional learning
